Since the dough is steamed it was a bit chewy in a way I wasn't terribly fond of. Good flavors through & tasty chutneys. A LOT of filling food. Good for sharing. - Fritz (Austin, Texas)

Idli was very plain unflavored rice pillows that were good for dipping. Vada was good but needed a vinegar based chutney to better enjoy. Very plain. Nice crispy exterior. - Fritz (Austin, Texas)
