Chicken definitely a 9, I rate the waffle a 6-7 because I don't care for yeast dough waffles. The brown sugar butter is great! Get some extra to clog those arteries properly.

9

I grew up on milkshakes made with just whole milk and real ice cream. There is something different about this shake. Maybe they use soft serve.

6

Carne Guisada was tender enough to cut with fork and seasoned well. Chorizo was good but needed salt. The rest average, but overall I would certainly get again.

8

Best pre-meal bread anywhere in my book. Fresh herbs & cheese cooked right into the bread. Moist and pillowy. ALWAYS get an extra basket to sop up any of their delicious sauces.

10

Was slightly hesitant about olive mustard sauce, but oddly enough, it worked just fine. The Salmon was absolutely perfectly cooked. Every bite was moist and flaky.

10

Outstanding! Really, just amazing. Sauce is beautiful and the veal is just barely caramelized - perfect. Delicate flavors but rich and satisfying.

10

Not usually a big fan of brie, but the combo was really quite superb. Brie slightly salty, pecan were fresh, apples lightly caramelized, all worked flawlessly together.

9

Reminds me of Café Du Monde in New Orleans. Maybe a little bit more on the biscuit side, but flavor is spot on as I recall. Would be great with a cup of coffee.

9

French toast a sliced cinnamon roll? Genius! Icing sauces were good but needed more. That’s just a personal preference, but hey baby loves sauce!

10

Could have used more cheese & perhaps a cheese that melts a bit better & has stronger flavor. Creamy though & w/ a touch of salt, pretty good.

6

Just great! Will get this again. Hollandaise sauce was probably the best I have had anywhere in town & capers made the whole thing pop.

10

Great Gyro meat, they crisp on the grill after cutting off spit so all sides are caramelized! Sides are great too. Hummus and tabouli may favs.

9

Shrimp are huge and the red pepper is not terribly hot, GREAT flavors. I get every time, but tonight the shrimp tasted fishy and the garlic bits were missing.

7

Not a fan. The sauce was not hot & had hints of BBQ sauce (??), carrots were not cooked at all, and the shrimp were very small and a little fishy.

4

Plain looking dish, usually very good, but this last time, the calamari was a bit chewy. Flavor is clean and salt is just right. I would give it one more chance.

6

Not spectacular, but a solid dish, good flavor, not hot at all, tangy & sweet, fish is light and flaky and was very fresh.

8

A staple at this restaurant - sometimes its waaaay to greasy, tonight it was better though. I don't care for that much red pepper and this is loaded.

8

I think this is spiced with Cardamom, maybe, whatever it was, I was not a fan. Fish, noodles, & veggies good, but sauce was not my cup-o-tea.

6

Was a good dish, but not very fitting with the other dishes here. I say it’s a good dish to throw in for the people wanting something fairly tame.

6

I love this dish, but I would not get to eat just by myself. These are batter fried and very rich. Get as an appetizer or share. They are just outstanding in moderation.

10

Flavor on this dish is great, BUT all the textures are hard to take. Pork is melty/fatty & other ingredients were too hard, not cooked, just an odd dish, simply because of texture.

5

839. Orange Tofu at Asia Cafe

Category: AsianTags:

Very good, orange flavor tangy and rich, tofu cooked very well, slightly crispy outside.

9

I have been surprised by the tofu dishes here twice, once with the Orange Tofu and now this. I would certainly order again. Tofu great and sauce is superb.

9

The bread is buttery & cook an egg in the middle & it's just special.

8

Just the best. I still get cravings for this brownie from time to time. It has never disappointed. The topping is heavenly and the brownie is always moist.

10

Flaca Platter at Baby Acapulco

Category: TexMexTags:

Everything was just average. This dish is VERY similar to the Chuychanga at Chuys. But the Chuychanga is divine. Maybe if I didn't have this perspective…

5

Veggie Meat Tacos at Beets Cafe

Category: TexMexTags:

Won best in show public vote at the 2012 Austin Chef Showdown event and for good reason. These are delicious and apparently very good for you.

10

Pretty standard, solid enchiladas. Not crazy amazing or anything but good and I would likely order again.

7

Fish was undercooked a little and the batter made up 70% of this. Flavor was OK, but just too much fried.

5

A little bland in flavor but hot in spice. There are better appetizers to order in my opinion.

5

These are fairly spicy but REALLY good. The manager talked us into these the last visit and we were very happy.

10

A great plate to sample several dishes. I love the tandoori chicken and the shrimp tikka.

8

If you are not familiar with Indian cuisine, start with this dish. It's not terribly exotic and the flavors are very rich and satisfying. This is always a good fall back dish.

8

Garlic Naan at Bombay Bistro

Category: IndianTags:

Once you have this Garlic Naan, you will never go back to plain old Naan. I could almost eat this just by itself.

9

Was not a fan of the filling, chicken was fine, but the sauce was stellar. I think I might see if I can get this sauce on other dishes in the future.

8

Best Mango Lassi in town. I drink a little, then add some water to dilute and make it last longer. It's thick and creamy with great Mango flavor.

10

Favorite way to start a meal here.

8

Paneer Pasanda at Bombay Bistro

Category: IndianTags:

Good, but sauce was a little bland for my taste. Cheese was OK but seemed somewhat out of place. I'm not Indian though. Good mild dish for anyone new to Indian.

7

Sikandari Raan at Bombay Bistro

Category: IndianTags:

Lamb was not "gamey" in the least & was cooked & seasoned well. I dipped in the Paneer Pasanda sauce & that was very tasty. Tikka Masala would work too.

10

Masala Idli at Bombay Express

Category: IndianTags:

Never had Idli before, was really quite good. Like a fried sour dough but just a touch saltier. Topping was fresh and all the flavors mingled nicely.

9

Samosa (2pcs) at Bombay Express

Category: IndianTags:

Great samosas with a wonderful dipping sauce. Pastry was fried perfectly and was not oily or greasy. Filling was mild and flavorful.

9

Plain & simple but very tasty. Great for the first timers & probably something I will order again once I make it through the rest of the offerings.

8

Excellent mashed potatoes and brown gravy would have gotten very high marks from me had it not been absolutely overpowered by Thyme.

5

Good but would have liked more peanut flavor. Contents were good and pie shell was flakey. More and stronger peanut sauce please!

7

Really a very good salad. Tart apples and gorgonzola work well together and vinaigrette is quite complementary.

8

I would say better than average. I would like to see a lemon butter or garlic aioli served with this dish. Calamari crisp and flavorful and a larger amount.

7

Every dish I tried here was fairly bland; this sauce salvaged the meal to some degree. I poured on just about everything and it helped add some flavor to things.

9

This had a very good strong chocolate flavor. It was almost like a dense chocolate pudding, with a candy coating of caramelized sugar of course.

8

The cake was a slight bit on the dry side, but the strawberry mousse and the icing were quite good.

8

I was not particularly impressed with this. There's nothing about this dish that will bring me back. Lacking flavor, or kick, or something.

6

The spinach was bitter and I could not even taste the other flavors. Pastry baked golden brown and buttery, but filling was not worth the $ or calories.

4

I was underwhelmed. Nice presentation, but sauce had no flavor and the Gnocchi were just unimpressive. Again, where is the flavor? Where is the kick or use of spice?

5

There was no kick, no pop, no great savory flavor to make me love this. Everything was cooked well, but nothing at all special about this dish.

5

A good cake, but I would not seek out again. The sauce drizzled over and around was excellent, but the cake texture seemed a little course for me.

7

Just above average I would say. The best in town is at the Cheesecake Factory and their garlic aioli sauce makes the whole thing!

6

Chicken is always expertly grilled, the tangy goat cheese melts in your mouth, and the lemon butter is to die for. You cannot go wrong with this dish.

10

I added this as a dish because I want to brag on Carrabba's. Some other restaurants give you bread and just plain oil, but here the dipping spices are something to be fought over.

9

Best warm bread, spices, and dipping oil anywhere in my opinion. Only problem is that you fill up on bread before the meal gets there. They now sell the spices – dangerous.

10

Best Caesar Salad anywhere, then top with fire grilled shrimp. Heavenly I tell you. I also order some lemon butter to dip my shrimp in, wow, it's so good.

10

A very solid soup. I would order this instead of the salad, but then I found that their Ceasar salad is the best in the world.

8

Carrabba's fettuccine alfredo is decadent, rich, just everything you want in a creamy pasta sauce.

9

Not technically on the menu any longer, but they can still make it for you. I get them to add pepperoni and get a side of lemon butter for dipping. Like heaven on earth.

10

I have them add pepperoni and get some of their lemon butter for dipping. This is AMAZING!

10

The shrimp are plump and delicious and the lemon butter is killer good.

9

I have not found a better Caesar dressing anywhere. I have tried many others elsewhere and all have disappointed me.

10

The shrimp are never fishy, the scallops are never rubbery, and the lemon butter is like crack. I just wish this dish was twice the size.

9

Warm and sweet with just the right amount of everything. Love it all. Good to share as it is a lot but there is still some resentment as you watch others partake.

10

Shrimp are probably something purchased from Sysco. They are a bit on the fishy side & frozen. Sad, I really was excited, Catfish is great as always.

7

Lite Plate at Catfish Parlour

Category: SeafoodTags:

The best catfish in town. The fish is fresh and not greasy like other places. The breading is crisp and the tartar sauce is made with dill pickles.

10

They look like hush puppy French fries and when dipped in the tartar sauce are damn near addictive. I usually blast through a dozen by myself. Good thing they are FREE!

10

For being "steeped in coconut milk" this cake was DRY. Flavor was ok, but nothing like saw dust cake to make your day.

3

Below average, too little, too $$$. Try Ka-Prow's Egg Custard for a Creme Brulee that will knock your socks off!

4

Chips are thin, crispy, & salted well. The house-made salsa is super. The consistency is like watery applesauce, but flavor is great. Hard not to eat too much.

8

Chocolate overload for sure. The brownie is very fudge like and so rich it should be served with milk. Served with ice cream instead, of course. Best to share.

10

Sinfully delicious. The crispy fried chicken is great & the combo of Buffalo sauce & Ranch make this my favorite dish to order here at Chili's.

9

New appetizer. Was hopeful, but sadly disappointed. The sauce is just not quite there, sounds good, but missing something. Shrimp were a little fishy too.

4

I used to love this until I tried the Brownie Sundae. The magic shell is a throw back to childhood. Cake around the outside can be a little overcooked sometimes.

7

Good for a chain. Cheese and chili beef are tasty and the chips are thin, crispy, and salted well. I also like the house salsa.

7

One of my favorites here. Eggrolls are crispy & the filling is gooey. The avocado ranch dipping sauce completes the package. All fried food should be served with Ranch, right?

9

I liked this dish; the beef was cooked well, but I like the cut of the meat better in the Sesame Beef. The orange flavor was good but a little strong so be warned.

7

Best in town that I have found. We pretty much always get these every visit. Dip in the sweet red plum sauce and spicy mustard to amp up flavors.

9

Chicken & Shrimp dish - The flavors just don't pop like some other dishes they offer. Get the Sesame Beef, you won't be disappointed.

7

Just slightly above average.

6

A staple for most Chinese restaurants. However, the chicken here is actually white meat and not just fried fat and tendons. The sauce is really tangy.

8

Pork, cabbage, & mushrooms were cooked well, but I just felt like something was missing. There was no zip. Tried adding soy sauce & plum sauce. I probably won't order again.

6

Great cuts of white meat chicken, NOT batter fried, in a brown sauce. Not spicy & could use more tangy kick. Ask for lemon sauce from lemon chicken to add zip.

8

Best Chinese dish ANYWHERE. I kid you not. The beef is cross grain cut shoe string thin and just melts in your mouth. When 10 friends go eat here, at least 5 orders hit the table.

10

The sauce is a red sauce, a little like sweet & sour. I thought the shrimp were good, & the walnuts were served on the side. I was hoping the sauce was going to be a honey mayo.

7

Pretty average for Chinese food. The sauce is middle of the road, not spicy. The chicken is not battered or fried. The cuts of meat were good and not fatty.

6

Baja Shrimp Tacos at Chuy's

Category: TexMexTags:

I love these, get them 50% of the time if not ordering the Chuychanga, shrimp fresh, batter great, tortillas made in house I think.

9

Brownie Pie at Chuy's

Category: DessertTags:

Great chocolate flavor & lots of nuts, overall very good. Only complaint is that because it is a pie the outside is a much drier than the middle. Add ice cream.

7

Chile Con Queso at Chuy's

Category: TexMexTags:

Not the best in town but still above average for sure.

7

Stir in the sour cream & add some salt & this was pretty good. I might order again. I ate half without sprucing up, was somewhat average that way.

8

Chuychanga at Chuy's

Category: TexMexTags:

Order with queso as your sauce and it's a perfect 10. I also have them hold the cilantro as this overpowers everything else for my tastebuds.

10

I could eat cardboard if I had this sauce for dipping! It's amazing. I have tried to make at home but nothing compares. Make sure you ask the wait staff for it.

10

Lay’s potato chips for crust? Nice touch Chuy’s. The chicken is tender, breading is great, & the sauce is spicy but not overpowering.

9

Margarita Pie at Chuy's

Category: DessertTags:

Best Key Lime pie in town. They took this off the menu because not enough people ordered. I think because they call Margarita people think alcohol. Change name & bring back!

10

Queso Compuesto at Chuy's

Category: TexMexTags:

The ground beef is seasoned well and the guacamole is fresh. I'd put this above Magnolia Sonora queso, but don't tell my friends

7

Table Salsa at Chuy's

Category: TexMexTags:

You have to ask the wait staff for this salsa, it is not advertised anywhere on their menu. Ask for the "Table Salsa" and Creamy Jalapeno sauce when they bring out the usual salsa

8

Make sure you ask your server for a side of the delicious dipping sauce for your chips and salsa.

10

Best Key Lime pie in town. They took off the menu at Chuy's because not enough people ordered because they call Margarita pie. It's called Key Lime at Hula & is the exact same!

10

Pork Burrito at Chuy's Hula Hut

Category: TexMexTags:

WOW, this far exceeded my expectation. Pork was super tender and the whole thing is very flavorful. I was only going to eat half because it is so huge, but…

10

The fajita beef is a nice touch, usually at other joints it's just ground taco beef. A great way to start any meal at the Hula Hut.

8

Not s huge fan of coconut, but wow what a great drink. Smooth and creamy, I would get this every day.

10

Fried chicken was really quite good, but the sauce was just terrible. Cross between brown gravy and a Thai curry. Both good separately, but together, bleh.

3

Fried Tofu at Coco's Cafe

Category: AsianTags:

Some tofu was stuck together and the batter between was undercooked. Overall, not bad at all. I think I'll stick to the Onion Pie though.

6

Green Onion Pie at Coco's Cafe

Category: AsianTags:

I got a large thinking I would take some home, but the green onions and sauce together are addictive to a salt addict like myself. GREAT appetizer or main meal.

10

Mostly dark meat chicken that did taste great, but there was a lot of fat in each bite. I love the sauce of garlic, onions, & pepper - maybe order the Peppercorn Shrimp next time.

7

Shrimp was overcooked yet batter was still a bit gooey. Use of Chinese 5 spice was not a welcome addition either.

5

Cheese is rich and creamy and the tomato and bacon are such a nice touch. Not fancy w/ a bunch of fancy different cheeses but satisfying.

10

Really really moist cake. Icing could be better I think, but wow was the cake great.

9

Good idea with all ingredients I like, but the turkey was no better than your standard generic grocery store pre-sliced deli meat.

5

Sounds AMAZING, but was just average. Mac was bland, chicken was pretty good and Pancetta was very good (probably because it's basically bacon).

6

One of the best fast food burgers in my opinion. Comparable to Steak & Shake's steak burgers. Beef is smashed super thin & is caramelized on the grill with butter.

8

I have 'em add peanut butter & it's like a Reece's shake. The peanut butter they use for the shakes is especially good. It's not thick like store bought, it's creamy and sweet.

10

A good shake. I like the cheesecake bits when mixed into the pumpkin shake in the fall, but was not terribly smitten with this strawberry one.

7

These are a guilty treat for sure. Get some ranch dressing for dipping. When hot, the cheese is gooey and delicious, breading is also seasoned well.

10

Crazy good! Tangy & Tart so hold on to your taste buds – Heavenly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

10

I appreciate the texture and pie crust, but there is a spice in this I don't like. I think it's nutmeg and for some reason it just seems out of place.

6

Chicken Pot Pie at Cutie Pies

Category: BakeryTags:

This came out warm, I added a little salt to make flavors pop more. I think this is probably the most authentic homemade pot pie I have ever had outside of my own kitchen.

8

Great flaky pie crust wraps a chocolate and caramel candy bar. Flash fried to perfection sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Would give a 10 for a Snickers bar instead!

9

A descent cookie, but unless they were completely out of pies, I would probably not order again. Get 'em when their hot or have heated up for the best experience.

7

Rich, creamy, & super chocolaty. A little lighter than pudding and a little heavier than whipping cream, very close to chocolate mouse.

8

Coconut Cream Pie at Cutie Pies

Category: BakeryTags:

I think they might use synthetic coconut flavor and for some reason it just doesn't resonate with me. If filling was just vanilla w/ coconut bits I would rate higher.

7

Dutch Apple Pie at Cutie Pies

Category: BakeryTags:

Mmmmm, heat it up & add a dollop of vanilla ice cream to take you back to your childhood. Apples cooked perfectly, crust is buttery, touch of cinnamon delicious.

9

Wow, when these are hot the center is almost like a molten chocolate cake, all fudgey and warm. Great chocolate flavor. Just a feel good pie.

9

Lemon Meringue at Cutie Pies

Category: BakeryTags:

Lemon filling is tart, fresh, and rich. I hate Meringue though, BUT, BUT, Cutie Pies Meringue is a cross between whipped cream and marshmallow fluff. Wow!

10

Pistachio Pie at Cutie Pies

Category: BakeryTags:

Filling reminds me of Pistachio pudding from my childhood. Hard to go wrong with childhood memories topped with fresh whip cream & crusted with Oreos.

8

Absolutely amazing. I love this little pie. The white chocolate filling is very vanilla and is almost like ice cream. Coconut and Pecans work well too. My new fav here.

10

Cheesesteak inside was just tender/flavorful and fried egg roll exterior crispy & delicious. Dipped in the cheese sauce, these are fantastic. I would go back just for these.

10

Should have ordered this. Had to share a bite from a friend's plate. Beef was tender & sauce was very good. I would order this next time.

8

Shrimp & Scallops were slimy & tasted a bit fishy. Not a fan of the sauce either: translucent gelatinous sauce. Would not order again.

4

Very good. Hard not to eat too much when it's hot. The apple filling is just canned stuff but still good with their dough and powered sugar and icing. Makes sense!

8

My favorite specialty pizza here. The BBQ sauce is really good and works well for a pizza sauce.

8

I think these are my favorite cheese sticks at any fast food-ish type Pizza place. I always sneak a few in the car while I'm in route with Pizza for an event.

8

I like the apple strudel better. This is good but the cherry flavor is a little bland. To me this just tastes like sweet.

7

A basic idea, but I always eat several slices. Good for a dessert pizza and nice way to send the meal.

8

A staple in college and a must for every UT game! Great. Hard not to eat too many. Make sure you get your own ranch cup though or there is fighting.

10

Best of the available Stromboli flavors. The meat is flavorful and the cheese is gooey melty great when these are hot. They always go fast at parties.

9

This is just a side item, but in my opinion the best thing on the menu. I guess that means I have not fallen in love with any entrees here, and that is a fact.

8

Lamb was slow cooked & pulled apart, just melts in your mouth. As is on plate, good, but add salt and squeeze on a lime for added kick.

8

Very average. Cheese is low grade and ranch dressing is cheap, not medium quality like store bought brand name ranch.

5

Enfrijoladas at El Chile

Category: TexMexTags:

Black bean sauce was interesting and good. Filling was shredded and seasoned well. The side of guacamole stole the show though, was tangy and delicious.

8

Salsa at El Chile

Category: TexMexTags:

Not bad, but not stellar either. This is very mild and probably meant for those not interested in hot or spicy salsa. Good texture and salted well, just missing “kick.”

6

Flavor is good and texture is spot on. Make sure you add some lime, salt, and salsa for more kick. Without, Barbacoa is bland to some.

7

Always fresh, always the perfect drink for tacos!

9

Can sometimes border on too hot for my tastes in guacamole. When it is good it is great though. Caution, the chips are super oily though.

7

Tastes a little like cinnamon milk. Flavor is good and the drink is rich. The milky sweet helps dilute spice and peppers so you can use as a crutch if you cannot handle heat.

7

Just ground beef, but the cooked in tomato flavor is pretty tasty. There are much better things on the menu but I always seem to order at least one of these w/ my order.

7

This taco is tangy and rich in flavor. I usually wash it down with a fresh lemonade. The corn tortillas are also really good. I think they make them fresh.

10

Tacos Al Pastor at El Mercado

Category: TexMexTags:

Best Tacos Al Pastor around. Chicken and pineapple work really well. Salty, sweet, not too spicy. I order this just about every time I'm there.

9

Very good. The crawfish was fresh, the sauce inside spicy and flavorful, and the breading outside crispy fried. I would definitely order again.

8

Super good. A pecan praline wrapped in dough and fried to perfection. You can try to split but there will be fighting.

10

Muffuletta at Evangeline Cafe

Category: CajunTags:

The BEST Muffuletta in Austin. Meat is tangy and warm, olive spread was awesome! Whole things was a big delicious mess.

10

More stuffing than crab & stuffing was really not all that flavorful. My grandmother used to make great stuffed crabs, I’m sure that influences my expectation.

6

This pizza sounds a little odd, BUT the flavor combo is superb. Of course, it helps if you like peanuts. Also, the crust is good, which is a big factor in my rating.

10

I think this is the best shake I have had in Austin. Milk, ice cream, hand spun, this is the way it should be.

9

GREAT, and cheap for the menu, Best enchiladas in town. The cheese they use is amazing and the suizas sauce is killer.

10

Fried Shrimp are the way to go! This bowl is great and a LOT of food. Two people can easily share. The Lemon dipping sauce is divine.

9

Very similar to other's Tikka Masala, mild, creamy, rich tomato sauce. Chicken a bit overcooked but overall very good. A perfect starter to anyone new to Indian.

9

Lots of shaved coconut in this sauce. Flavor was very good, but actual coconut was chewy and a tad distracting. I would still likely order again.

7

Did not care for the Peppers. Seems like a new twist on an old recipe. I would not likely order this again. Makhani is what I seek in this genre.

6

Lamb filling expertly seasoned and the two accompanying sauces are great. Always a great starter.

8

Lemon Chicken at Golden Wok

Category: ChineseTags:

Things I didn’t like: skin on chicken, Chinese 5 spice on egg drop?!?, soggy greasy mess of an egg roll, artificial lemon sauce from a box powder. Fried rice was descent.

4

Great for sharing. The icing is heavenly. Use the balls to mop up as much icing as you can get.

9

Pork is fairly flavorless, they serve with limes, I suggest using them all & adding salt. I liked once there was some flavor. If this is the best they offer, I worry.

7

Papa Rellena at Habana SoCo

Category: CubanTags:

Fried balls of Shepherd's Pie, with very little seasoning, flavor, kick, oomph, whatever you want to call it. Is food in Habana really bland?

3

Papas Fritas at Habana SoCo

Category: CubanTags:

Like giant potato wedges, no flavor at all, but dipping sauce is descent. I suggest sharing because they are pretty mundane & I'd rather not eat a whole order by myself.

5

Not a huge fan of sugar cookies because they are usually too dry for me. These were pretty good all in all.

8

A great chocolate chip cookie, I think I detected a hint of vanilla which I appreciate.

9

These are fantastic! I love Oreo truffles & these do not disappoint. I also like the use of white chocolate for the creamy shell.

10

Not at all a fan of the grapes in this soup. The overall flavor was sour to me and that was not what I was expecting. Meat was good and cooked well, but sour flavor overwhelmed.

4

WAY better than I expected. Wrap was filled with marinated black eyed peas and the wrapper was actually fresh collard greens. Unique and very tasty to boot.

8

WOW. Huge patty of perfectly seared tuna. Worth the $ right there just in tuna. The Nori chips are awesome, sauces are great. I get w/o bean sprouts.

10

Expensive, but sinfully delicious. The salt & caramel craze is prolific in Austin right now, but this really is a great example of how it’s done well.

10

Great fries, cooked a little overdone which makes some really crispy (good thing).

7

Really just sinfully delicious. I can finish a whole order by myself if you let me, but better to share. Crispy fries and creamy queso – why haven’t others done this?

10

I rather prefer just the standard queso. I feel like the what little bit of heat there is in the queso is just distracting. Not sure how best to describe.

7

Pesto sauce was better than I expected. Not a huge fan of mushrooms on my burgers but this was a solid offering.

7

Burger falls apart because meat is so tender. Eat w/ fork and knife the next time & get onions on the side / had a bit of funky taste – no matter 10 for this burger.

10

Meat was seasoned & didn’t have to add any salt. Chili was spiced well w/o being overwhelming. Tillamook cheese is always the best & Fritos - hell yes!

9

Good, always the same, but I think Trudy's or maybe Hoovers has them beat.

7

The polenta is buttery crisp pan fried and the basil pesto has a really fresh clean flavor that works well with the polenta.

8

Eggplant was really oily but cooked OK. Creamy vodka sauce is really good & fresh pesto great. I will not likely order again. Good presentation though.

6

These really are the best fries in town and the dipping sauce is excellent. Make sure you ask for extra sauce if I'm sitting at your table.

9

Great sandwich, bread is buttery and toasty, cheese is perfectly melted and the ham is the good stuff (maybe Boarshead Brand). Delicious and very filling.

9

The goat cheese & squash are battered & fried separately. Coulis is just marinara & is just OK. Nothing really remarkable. I would not likely order again.

5

Great schnitzel for sure. Cutlet was super tender and breading was crisp. Gravy was not even necessary but was good.

9

Best thing on the menu hands down, aside from the fries of course! They offer as side and as "upgraded" side. Make sure you get it baked with the bread crumbs. Wow!

10

Average dumpling but great dipping sauce, maybe even better than some Asian restaurants I have been.

8

If you don't like "soggy" cakes like Tres Leches then avoid. However, if you like things that are AWESOME, you should get this. Cake is super moist and cream is just divine.

10

Albacore Tuna Tataki at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Got this once because they were out of the normal Tuna. Was good but not the same. I would order their Albacore sushi or sashimi, but with roasted garlic, just wasn't as good.

7

Heart Roll at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Not bad, but not spectacular. I don't really care for asparagus in maki, so maybe that's it. I just thought there was something missing.

6

House Salad at Ichiban

Category: SaladTags:

Greens are always crisp/fresh & the ginger dressing is great! Sometimes I get a side of dressing & use it as a sauce for the maki. Coupled with soy sauce its fantastic.

8

Kazi Roll at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Love it, fried with cream cheese, what's not to like. I know this is not necessarily traditional, but still, the pallet wants what the pallet wants.

9

Mexican Orgasm Roll at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

This roll sounded really good, but I thought the flavors were very muted. I was just expecting better I think. Mango not nearly as good as you think it will be.

6

Miso Soup at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Not the best I have ever had, but I always seem to order it. It just starts the meal on the right foot.

8

Pepper Tuna Tataki at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Best anywhere. I would get 6 orders of this every time if I could afford it. Tuna is fresh, clean, delicious & the roasted garlic bits & pepper make this one of my favorite dishes.

10

Spring Garden Roll at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Is a descent roll, but I don't care for the pickled ginger on the inside. That flavor is a cleansing flavor and washes away all others. I can't taste the other ingredients.

4

A staple for me, plain, simple, yet very good. When the salmon is smoked I can tolerate is much more easily.

8

Yummy Roll at Ichiban

Category: SushiTags:

Salmon is a little on the fishy side of things for me. I don't typically like salmon all that much though so take my opinion as merely cautionary.

5

Tasted like pudding from a can. Skip this and just get extra meat instead. You won't be disappointed by the meat that is for damn sure.

4

Had on two occasions, once they were crispy and delicious, the other, they were soggy and oily. I would take another chance on them because they were great the 1st time.

8

Pulled Pork at Johnny T's BBQ

Category: BarbecueTags:

Hands down, the best I have ever had. The seasoning was just perfect and the meat melted like butter in your mouth. Have tried on two occasions, one more fatty, but still great.

10

Too much food for 3 people let alone 1. Great mild seasoning, enough to make 4-5 large breakfast tacos. Do not operate heavy machinery after consumption.

8

Next time I will order without lettuce, it inhibited the amount of just pure heavenly guacamole I could scrape on a chip. I suggest you order as appetizer for Don Juan.

7

Mmmm, the salmon was cooked perfectly and I loved the corn puree. Dirty Quinoa is a neat idea, but it just wasn't as good as I had hoped.

9

Definitely good, but a little more like something the unadventurous would order. Get the curry or any of the Pad dishes – you can't go wrong.

6

Bacon Roll at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

An odd set of flavors for Sushi indeed. I give is a solid 7 for originality. I won't probably order again because I don't care for bacon flavor in my sushi or Asian cuisine.

7

Calamari at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: ItalianTags:

Battered with an onion ring batter! Squid inside is tasty and not rubbery at all. The dipping sauce was ok, but we tried dipping in plum & soy sauce – super good this way.

8

Above average California Roll I would say as the ingredients are always fresh, I get this as an appetizer or sometimes just as a side to my main dish.

7

A Cali wrapped in avocado. Ask for the spicy tuna sauce if you want to add a little pop. This is a good standard roll with NO raw fish if you are squeamish.

7

These are very good. They use low fat cream cheese but you cannot tell. The onions flavor the cheese well & the dipping sauce is really quite complementary.

10

Definitely a signature roll. I really like the use of apple inside. The salty soy sauce and crunchy sweet apple work REALLY well.

9

Best coconut ice cream around. They use real coconut milk and bits of coconut. We usually get this on top of sticky rice. Outstanding if you want a change from the Egg Custard.

9

Good shrimp and very good coconut batter. They are served with the Spicy Tuna sauce. I think I would like better if sauce was honey mayo or even sweet chili.

7

Consistency like vanilla silk. It is the BEST BEST Creme Brule I have EVER had and I am a Brule connoisseur. Trust me, order this!!!

10

Dune Roll at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

A good roll, but I think it needed just a little more sauce. The flavors are too subtle and I needed more to make me love this.

6

Edamame at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

Exactly how it should be. Beans were plump and flavor was clean and fresh. Always love that sea salt on the shells. A great starter for sure.

7

Egg Drop at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: ChineseTags:

Good soup, has more veggies than traditional Chinese restaurants

7

These really are very good. The pockets are just lightly fried and they come with a sweet chili sauce that is very complementary.

8

Gumboyo at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

Tried something similar at Madam Mam's, I didn't like theirs, but Ka-Prow's is very good. Crispy and good flavor with a great dipping sauce. Would order again.

8

Shrimp were large and breading was crispy. Sauce is VERY sweet, a little too sweet for me. I did finish the whole plate though so must not have been that bad!

8

Best Fried Rice dish on menu. Flavors are good but spicy level is probably a little on the hot side for some. I order without peppers just so I can enjoy the other subtle flavors.

9

Average Miso.

6

Sweet, tangy, salty, savory, rich - this is a great starter dish if wanting to experiment with Curry dishes. The heat is toned way down and the dish overall is just excellent

10

Pad Thai at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: ThaiTags:

A staple dish of any Thai restaurant and my favorite Pad Thai in town for sure and always a great fall back dish when you can't decide.

9

I love the crystal noodles. If you like sauce, there is not a lot to speak of, but the noodles, veggies, and meat are cooked just right every time.

8

Phily Roll at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

A good roll, I give it just above average because it is not a roll that really shows off any talent. Try the Apple Blossom roll. That is a better indicator of the caliber.

6

Good fried rice as base, large chunks of Pineapple. The sweet and salty combo is very good. I used to order a lot, but then I found the curry dishes.

7

A great roll, all fresh fishes presented beautifully. This is a great roll to NOT share. Each piece ends up having a different fish topper as they are staggered cross.

9

Satey at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: AsianTags:

For me, the peanut sauce is what makes this good. The chicken is cooked well but doesn't have much flavor.

6

Great roll, shrimp are always fried to perfection and the spicy tuna sauce it is served with is the perfect complement.

8

Holy crap this is hot. I had a hard time finishing as the heat was additive and each bite brought more and more fire to the table. Good but too hot for me.

6

A fairly common roll, no frills. Solid flavors but not special or unique to Ka-Prow. I do usually order as a filler or appetizer.

6

The roasted garlic was a nice touch. Flavors are good even without the dipping sauce.

8

Again, a standard roll for any sushi joint. I seem to always order this roll as filler to my meal or just as an appetizer. Price is good and roll is always consistent.

7

Tom Kha at Ka-Prow Restaurant

Category: ThaiTags:

GREAT soup. The coconut milk is a great medium for the onions, ginger, mushrooms, and meat. I always get with chicken. Tangy, sour, sweet, all good flavors.

9

Very average. Chicken was ok, not terribly flavorful. Eggs were cooked fin and the Verde sauce was just not spectacular in any way. Nothing wrong, just nothing exciting.

5

This seems to be a rip off of Magnolia Cafe's Eggs Zappatino, but hey, this is covered in Kerbey queso and is just wonderful.

8

Better than expected I must admit. I'm not a huge French toast fan, but this was pretty good. I like the dusting of cinnamon & powdered sugar. Bread not soggy.

7

I have a LOT of loyalty to Magnolia Cafe and their queso, but I do love the fact that Kerbey uses guacamole instead of just sliced avocado (and its really good guacamole).

9

Breading was very good, seasoned well. Sauce needed a little lemon in my opinion for the acid. Maybe next time order sauce on the side and get a few lemon wedges.

8

This is the BEST thing they offer. Sadly, it's "seasonal" so you have to wait until they get smart and start offering all year. Tomatoes are available all year last I checked.

9

OK, you have to love olives to like this. It's not bad mind you but very strong on the olives. It says it right there in the desc but I was thinking it would be just a hint.

6

We ordered w/o hot peppers & flavors were just great. In fact, I think I might have a new favorite. The beef was lean, onions caramelized, and sauce flavorful.

9

Not bad, not great, pretty average. I also don't care for fried egg rolls that much so take my review with a grain of salt. I usually opt for spring rolls.

5

The rice paper was chewy. The rolls are huge though. I did like the peanut sauce, but there are much better in town.

5

Wow! A salty sweet rich piece of miracle pork. It is the perfect complement to Kitty's biscuits. My only complaint is that I wanted more, much more.

10

Great biscuit - moist and fluffy. The texture is somewhat different than other biscuits that look moist but are dry in your mouth. These stayed moist.

9

At first, I thought this needed some salt to make it pop, and then I tried with the salt pork nougat and BAM! All the flavors worked really well together.

10

Rio Grade Roll at Kona Grill

Category: SushiTags:

Only served at this location the server told us. An OK roll, jalapeno chunks were distracting oddly enough and I ended up picking out.

7

So sad, thought this might be like the Crab Meat Naruto Koreana (before they burned down) used to have. Did not care for the wasabi sauce drizzled over.

7

Steak was cooked and seasoned well. I don't care too much for arugula, but it wasn't all that offensive in this dish.

8

Where is the cheese? Lobster was a bit overcooked & fishy. Also, just FYI, cold water lobster tends to be tougher than warm water.

4

Beans were flavorless and disappointing. Enchiladas were unremarkable at best, not bad, but really nothing exceptional at all about them. Amp up the spices!

5

Beef was tender but a little dry maybe. Not as flavorful as the Pastor and not as tender as the Lengua, but a safe bet if you are not quite as adventurous.

7

Great pastor tacos. Seasoning just coats every bite which is what I look for. Served with limes and add a little extra salt, and oh my gosh, they're good.

9

A little odd, but really quite good. Meat was tender and if I hadn't seen the texture before sticking it in my mouth, I would swear it was just super moist brisket.

7

The roll is great, very fresh. I ordered w/o lettuce and next time I will ask that they toast the sandwich. That would really bring out some of the flavors in the meat better.

8

Best Pastrami sandwich anywhere. The meat is sliced thin, the bread is grilled w/ butter, and the whole thing is just excellent.

10

Jalapenos are pickled & mild. I love Feta and Pepperoni as a combo on Pizza. Crust not thin but not thick, just right.

8

Cake was super moist, the pandan flavor sweet and mellow a little like amaretto, and the cream cheese icing just perfect. Will seek out again.

10

Delicate flavors so rich and warm with fall-apart beef make this my favorite. “Satisfying” is how best to describe. This dish inspired me to try making my own curry paste at home

10

Just average I would say. I was not a fan of the noodles. I am used to rice noodles that are large broad sheets as opposed to just wide fettuccine. Sauce is average.

5

Lemon "Skookie" at madCakes

Category: BakeryTags:

Not a cookie, not a scone, but some delightful amalgamation of the two. It is light like shortbread but still moist. The lemon is just perfect and the icing, mmmmm.

9

Of their bars, this is the best for sure! Marbled cheesecake with strawberry goo, and the crust is even great.

10

Best plain vanilla cupcake in town! Cake is similar to pound cake and the cream cheese icing is stupid good. This is my cupcake of choice.

10

Pastry crust was flaky and apples were tart but sweet. Everything tasted fairly fresh.

7

Salad was fresh, but dressing is just your garden variety. I have had better out of a bottle. Best in town is still Carrabba's.

5

This looks crazy good, layers of moist cake & mousse. However, taste was very average. The chocolate was just not great; maybe my standards in chocolate are too high.

5

One of the better classic Fettuccines out there I would say. The sauce is thick and rich and really coats every noodle well.

8

Hardly any flavor & what I could taste I didn't particularly care for. Mushrooms were overcooked and the stuffing is bland.

3

Tender marinated chicken, good BBQ sauce, I was impressed actually. I would order again too. I also liked the use of jack cheese.

8

The dish was missing bite. I squeezed lemon juice all over it & added salt & it helped a LOT. I would probably not order again, other better things on the menu.

5

This is awesome. The cheese and sauces rock and the chicken was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Even the tomatoes were good in this. I'm impressed.

10

These are not really Mexican, or TexMex for that matter, but damn are they good!

10

What's not to love here? Mag famous queso smothering scrambled eggs on English muffins. It's like an upgraded eggs benedict.

8

Best Chocolate Cake in town! This cake is actually made by UpperCrust Bakery, we've ordered for B-Days, people fight for leftovers

10

Have been frequenting Magnolia for over 14y, and I have eaten my weight in Mag Queso, always a must, sometimes even dos quesos

9

Was way too heavy on the coffee this last time, I think it really matters who makes it for you.

6

It WAS a "10" back when it was being made by Virginia Wood - I would rate this higher if I didn't have the perspective

6

This is the WORST salsa in town and has been for many years running - Magnolia, please offer up something better!

1

I think that just plain ole Mag Queso is better. This is good, but I think Mag just holds a special place in my heart.

8

Very average dish, but that is what it is intended to be. I do order this often when I don't want anything very heavy.

6

The lemon sourcream sauce make this Omelette very very good. If you don't like olives, just order without.

8

Order with bacon inside and you have yourself a 10 - All three topping sauces are tangy and delicious.

9

Cheese overload - sometimes sucking down a bowl of Mag Queso is just not enough, pull this dish out and you will suffice that Cheese Tooth!

8

Holy Crap! This is a GREAT sandwich. The flavors just pop and the bread is wonderfully toasted with butter. So good, so very good.

10

Large amount of shrimp, cooked well, swimming in a devine sauce of tomato and I think maybe orange. Definitely order again, but maybe ask for no cilantro.

10

Tasted almost like a spicier version of La Madeleine’s Tomato Soup. Next time get the mild instead of medium, kept hitting pockets of distracting heat.

8

Smooth and creamy, great start to any meal.

7

Pork is sliced thin & seasoned well, but needs to be cooked longer. Meat is not as tender as I would prefer. Pineapple adds nicely to the mix.

7

As of today, these are my favorite TexMex cheese enchiladas in town. Cheese is NOT cheddar; it is gooey, hot, creamy, and very flavorful. The chili con carne is great too.

10

Have to say that this is too much queso/cheese. Scoop some beans, rice, queso, & cheese enchiladas into a corn tortilla for a gooey burrito. This helps dilute the cheese a bit.

8

Not a huge fan of crinkle cut fries. Better than average because some were overcooked and crispy.

7

Better than fast food burgers, AND oddly better than their 1/4lb version.

7

Average. Nothing remarkable here. Just a plain no frills burger. Meat was not especially moist or flavorful. Also, crinkle cut pickles? No, thank you.

5

Artichokes were good, not too salty or vinegary, jack cheese was melted & very gooey. Ranchero sauce not bad or good really. Dish was just not that impressive. They have better.

6

To me, tasted like they use a liqueur in the cake. I could still taste the alcohol & was not a fan. Cake was moist like a cakey brownie and frosting is super.

7

Add a little salt to make the very subtle flavors pop a little more. It was good, but I just wanted more flavor.

7

The cake itself was a little on the dry side, BUT the icing was killer. I think if they fixed the cake and doubled the icing, I'd give 'em a 10.

8

This dish needed some salt, but overall the flavors worked very well.

9

Enormous portion, but average quiche. The black olives were terrible and distracted horribly from the rest of the ingredients.

4

The best thing they have on the menu. The sauce is almost spot on for a more traditional meaty stroganoff.

9

Give me the chopped beef sandwich at Rudy's any day, but as far as vegan sloppy joes go, this was pretty good. Just don't tell my guy friends.

8

A solid chicken salad for sure, not too heavy on the celery & sliced grapes a nice touch. Got Caesar dressing on side and was satisfied.

7

Cannoli at Niki's Pizza

Category: DessertTags:

Takes me back to Mike’s Pastries in Boston. Best I have had so far in Texas. A little on the pricey side by very rich and satisfying.

9

Peperoni Pizza at Niki's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

Pretty standard fare. It's good, don't get me wrong, but not really anything out of the ordinary.

6

Probably my favorite so far. I love the combo and that Italian Sausage sliced thin like peperoni is great and does not give me crazy heartburn. I always opt for this first.

10

Sausage Pizza at Niki's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

Sausage was sliced like pepperoni and was sweet Italian instead of the stomach turning crumbled sausage everyone else uses. Delicious – will definitely be back.

9

Easily the best salmon I've had in Austin. I don't usually care for salmon as it's usually fishy. They do a great job with this though. Potatoes are also great. Demi-glas great!

10

Entire dish was dusted with CILANTRO! Not in the description at all! Japanese + Cilantro = suck. Once painstakingly removed, Tuna was good and sauce ok.

4

Always the perfect appetizer if you love garlic. The garlic has been roasted and just spreads on the bread like butter.

9

Flank steak was cooked & seasoned well. Cheese enchilada was filled with a gooey white cheese almost like Jack. Overall descent, nothing terribly exciting, but good.

7

This is more like a pancake soufflé. I get extra butter & just slather each bite. I LOVE this dish. Apples are cooked beautifully; batter is fluffy & perfectly complementary.

10

Always the perfect side item for the Apple Pancake. I sprinkle on salt and green Tabasco and this is very good.

7

Made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Chocolate milkshakes are much better when made with chocolate ice cream. Not a fan.

5

Consistently soggy. The flavor is fresh, but I just don't like texture.

3

Nothing more than an average burger to me. Ok, not great, not bad. I would not seek this burger out.

5

Very good lemonade. Does taste like fresh squeezed.

8

A very good sandwich for a chain. I love the bread & the turkey is always better than average. The artichoke and cheeses keep me coming back.

8

These are really great when hot. I have to sneak a few on the drive home or they get cooler and loose some of their appeal.

8

I love their thin crust pepperoni. I could eat whole pie by myself. Make sure to get the spice packets & apply liberally & then dip in ranch. Haven't found a better pepperoni.

9

Delicious on their original crust. So much cheese and it all blends well to make this my favorite cheese pizza in Austin.

9

Portion is HUGE, but tender & moist nonetheless. Seasoning is heavenly. Must remember to ask for extra glaze or sauce or buttery crumbles, whatever that stuff was.

10

Back in college, I loved lemon pepper, teriyaki, & ranch sauces. Today I seem to always get Cajun & occasionally the Ranch. Bring nitro pills w/ you, these will stop your heart.

8

The chips are a little chewy because they make fresh, flavor is great mind you, but I like the chips to be a little crispy. Flavors all work well though.

7

BBQ sauce and queso, oh yea! I was little apprehensive about the two flavors intermingling, but this all works really well.

8

Sometimes a bit dry, but always just falls apart. The flavor/spice level is also pretty spot on every time. I think I would prefer more spice though, more salt.

7

What you would expect, but I don't know any other BBQ joint that has this on their menu.

6

A solid side dish. Not the best in town, but nice to have as an option, as I know no other BBQ joints that offer M&C as a side.

7

Best BBQ pork loin I've had anywhere! Meat just falls apart, moist, juicy, salty, expertly spiced, & really is just addictive. I always eat way more than my stomach has room for.

10

I don't know what it is, but this is the best sausage I have had. The inside is not a solid block of meat like other sausages, I think they make fresh, boil first, then BBQ.

10

Great, not spicy at all, but flavorful & rich. I would encourage anyone to order this if seeking something mild & delicious. Lean meat cooked well & excellent accoutrement.

9

Spicy, lots of rich flavors. You get the heat, the salt, the sweet, and the tangy all at once and it just satisfies your whole pallet. Do be careful though, some peppers bite!

10

Wow. This is a really great cupcake. I think what I like best is that they don't skimp on the cream cheese frosting. Cake is moist and spiced well too.

9

A wonderfully chocolaty treat. Get it heated up so that it's just a little melted inside. So good they even sell them at Whole Foods, but better at Quacks, more fresh.

10

I think I might like these more than Trudy's migas and they are about half the price. Pick these up before work one day, you'll skip lunch you'll be so fat and happy.

9

Flavor was good & meat was tender. However, there was a lot of gristle and fat that was quite annoying. Kept ruining bites as I was trying to enjoy.

6

A unique flavor combo for sure. If you are looking for something a little different than your more traditional rolls, give it a shot. I would get more spicy mayo next time though.

9

Odd to have chicken & cheese in a maki roll. Flavors did work well together though, but I probably won't get again.

7

Chicken was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. Lemon butter sauce was OK, added fresh lemon & salt & was much better. Salad was surprisingly good.

9

The lemon butter sauce is not quite right, it's good, but the texture is too creamy I think. The chicken is great and so are all the toppings.

7

Heavy with the potato and Artichoke hearts are pickled which was not what I was expecting. Dipping sauce was good, but won’t get this again.

5

The bread just pulls apart and is pillowy soft – great flavor It's no Carrabba's fresh bread with herbs, but it is a very close second.

8

Goat cheese was good, but I didn’t care for the peppers. Their flavor interfered w/ the goat cheese. Would have rather these been stuffed cherry tomatoes.

4

I think this is seasonal. Sometimes the fish can be a little overcooked, but most of the time it is flaky and moist. The Parmesan Risotto is great.

9

My wife ordered this for years and I would always try to steal some off her plate. It's amazing, rich & creamy, and definitely hits the spot. The flavors are great.

10

Chicken was tender & juicy. Breading was seasoned well & the gravy was just right.

7

Reminded me greatly of a large Dairy Queen Steak Finger both in flavor and in texture. Tasted good, but think there is much better CFS elsewhere.

6

Beef is moist, tender, and cooked evenly. The bun is awesome, light, buttered, and grilled to perfection. Grilled: love that extra touch. Price is good too.

9

Banana Pudding at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

Not a fan of banana flavored anything, BUT this pudding is a must. The Nilla wafers just take me back. The perfect way to end a carnivorous rampage at Rudy's.

8

Brisket, Lean at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

When the brisket is "on", I would put it up against any in Texas. But, I do think they have a tendency to dry out a bit. Also, the flavors do not carry all the way through.

7

Cream Corn at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

I do not like creamed corn, nor have I ever. This stuff is amazing though and we always make sure we get extra because people will fight.

10

Potato Salad at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

One of my more favorite potato salads in Austin. I think the best is still at Cooper's BBQ though.

7

Regular Sausage at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

Pretty standard sausage.

6

St. louis Ribs at Rudy's

Category: BarbecueTags:

Best Ribs anywhere. Usually the meat is fall off the bone salty spicy delicious. Sometimes it can be a little less done, but the flavors keep this at a 10.

10

This is now made with 2 fresh croissants, dipped in crème brule batter. Overall good, even better with a little of their strawberry butter each bite.

7

Lox Omelet at Russell's Bistro

Category: BakeryTags:

The lox were a bit fishy for my taste. I do like lox normally. Not sure if maybe it was just an old batch. Rest was all pretty standard.

5

Not a fan of the Nutmeg ice cream. Also, not a huge fan of bananas. Despite that, this was great. WAY too much for two people. Really crazy rich.

9

Like heaven on Earth. Sinfully sweet and satisfying. Next time, there will be no sharing at all! I'm sure it is nothing but full fat cream and egg yolks, but who cares? Not me.

10

Amazing. Fries were crispy and salted down. Loved the soft boiled egg and the delicious fat it added. Bearnaise stole the show though! Get extra...at least 1 maybe even 2.

10

About what you would expect; deviled eggs with bacon. I would not get again. I would want to waste my calories elsewhere on the menu.

5

Not bad, but not very exciting. Flavors were mild and muted. I might recommend to someone playing it safe.

6

Flavors were very good. I ordered a medium spicy and that was way too hot. They also garnished with cilantro, next time I get them to hold. Lamb was on bone.

8

I love this drink. I usually order without the pearls but the drink by itself is so creamy & rich

9

Probably the best BBQ beans I have ever had.

10

Brisket was darn good. I got a fatty cut which I would not normally get, but the meat had been cooked long enough such that even the fat just melted.

9

Descent, it was sour pickle based instead of sweet which I greatly appreciate. I would probably not seek this out, but average as sides go.

5

Turkey at Smokey MO's BBQ LLC

Category: BarbecueTags:

Great flavor, moist, but seemed a little dense to me. I would have rated a little higher had there been some sponginess left in the meat at all.

7

I make a mean lasagna myself so I was pleasantly surprised when this was better than my own. They got the seasoning and cheeses right and I would get this again for sure.

8

Ridiculous, but so very very good. Really rich though so you might want to share as an appetizer. Get with extra cream cheese sauce.

10

Lots of good stuff in here, I noted the sweet potato of course, but there was also a pepper medley along w/ onions & fresh spices.

7

My second favorite sandwich at Tam. However, the lemon grass beef is hands down the best in town. I do frequent other Viet joints, but here the beef is not stringy & seasoned well.

9

Get the Shrimp, so much garlicy goodness in one sandwich. I also order w/ a fried egg and usually no veggies aside from the pickled carrots and cucumber. So very tasty & unique!

10

Cream Puffs at Tam Deli & Cafe

Category: DessertTags:

Amazing! They taste like ice cream cones and vanilla ice cream. I sometimes get a few right when I order to make sure that they don't run out. That has happened to me before.

10

Order with NO cilantro. Not on the menu or in any description, but a generous portion of cilantro just coating everything. Very good otherwise.

8

Good, very creamy. Make sure to get Naan for dipping. Chicken was a little dry but they just add it to the sauce upon request so I guess that makes sense.

7

Very good, very fresh, always a favorite when eating Indian. Also great for cutting the heat in any dish if you order it too spicy.

8

Not a fan. I think what makes the normal Samosas so good is the dipping sauce. This is covered in a somewhat bland mixture by comparison. Stick to vegetable samosas.

5

Outstanding samosas! Order every time. Pastry is buttery & flaky, filling is perfectly spiced, and dipping sauce is great.

10

A guy told me this is a staple in Iowa, if so, I'm moving there! This is great. Even though its fried, its light and crispy, just down right delicious.

10

I order with angel hair pasta instead and this is enough food for three people, I kid you not. Great sauce and excellent battered fried shrimp.

10

The beef just melts in your mouth and the sauce is so tangy and sweet. I usually don't have room for any of the rice or veggies. I highly recommend.

10

The garlic aioli is superb. Make sure to order an extra side of it or there will be a tussle at the table. The calamari are only average, but the sauce, wow!

10

Exactly as it sounds, mini corn dogs. I say these were average because there was nothing really special about them. They are good, just not crazy exceptional in any way.

5

Grits were really outstanding, creamy, cheesy, and rich. All the other junk on top distracted. Shrimp OK, but leave off all the extra sauce and garnish junk.

8

Garlic focaccia bread was really tasty. The dip was creamy and cheesy and the spinach did not overpower. Would likely get this again.

8

Calzone at The Red House

Category: PizzaTags:

Got the Artichoke Hearts & Caramelized Onions for filling. Good combo I thought. Bread was good consistency, cheeses inside melted and complementary.

8

The Lemon Aioli was really good and we all ended up fighting over it. The Calamari were also pretty good, fresh tasting, but very oily/greasy.

8

Rich & creamy with a lemon flavor that was not overwhelmingly tart. Blackberry sauce was stellar. I will not share this the next time.

10

Good, but not sure I would get again. I thought the balls could use a little more pesto. The marinara was great and helped though.

7

Brownie at Tiff's Treats

Category: DessertTags:

Probably the best standard brownies out there. By "standard", I mean not dressed up with fudge or ice cream. Nuke them for 20sec and they are amazing.

10

A close second to the white chocolate chip almond cookies. When these are hot and fresh, they are delicious. The butterscotch is buttery and sweet. Great w/ milk!

9

These are pretty good chocolate chip cookies. They are fairly normal though which is why the 7 rating.

When these are fresh & the M&Ms are melted, this cookie is easily a 9, but when they cool, they are a 7 or maybe 6. Either way, I think I would order over plain chocolate chip.

8

Above average cookie, but some of their other offerings set the bar pretty high. These are great when hot and fresh. As a PB-aholic, I would prefer for Peanut Butter.

7

These were my favs for years, but then I found the white chocolate almond. Cinnamon sugar is just perfect, we always order a half dozen w/ any order.

8

My absolute favorite cookie at Tiff's. It a little like a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, but the almonds lend a great amaretto flavor.

10

Filling tasted like generic chocolate pudding and added chocolate chunks were just Hershey's chips. Not impressed for the price. Check out Cutie Pies for homemade pies.

5

Shrimp were OK & the slaw & cabbage are fine, but I think if you're going to eat shrimp tacos, Chuy's is the way to go. Hard to compare when there is Creamy Jalapeno involved.

6

Fairly hot for my taste, but the flavors did work really well together. The mango and sour cream do help to balance out the heat.

8

I like because it is tangy. There is some cilantro, which I hate, but didn't seem to slow me down. Also, the chips are crisp, not oily, and are salted perfectly.

9

Brisket is cooked well, melts in your mouth, & I like the smokey flavor. Jalapenos are pretty mild which I like & Tomatillo sauce is good. Get with NO cilantro!

7

The poblano sauce is amazing and the fried chili is battered with magic! The different flavors will dance around your pallet.

9

Good queso; can be spicy hot for some. The lump of Guacamole drowning in the middle is good too. Order with no cilantro.

9

Nothin’ like fried chocolate chip cookies to finish a meal at Torchy’s. Good for sharing, but only for 2 people, 1 nookie is never enough.

9

Even with the addition of green chilies, I'm not sure I see the appeal. This taco is still fairly average considering all the other outstanding tacos they have to offer.

5

This was good, but for me the flavors just didn't pop like some of the other tacos. They really set the bar high with the Democrat & and the Dirty Sanchez.

7

This is just the best. The meat is always melt-in-your-mouth good and the sauces and flavors explode. I like to use the Poblano Sauce too on this. It's crazy good.

10

For some reason I like the Democrat Tacos better at the Spicewood location. This is still my favorite though. Order with the Dirty Sanchez and you can't go wrong.

9

Chicken is tender and spiced well. Get this trashy, fried chicken and queso, mmm.

8

Great sampler, all the good stuff, great for two hungry people or four watching their intake. And definitely get the queso especial!

9

The texture is smooth and creamy and the cheese does not disappoint. These are not hint-o-cheese potatoes; this is cheese with some mashed potatoes in them. So good.

9

Very good and great cream gravy too. Make sure you get the cheese mashed potatoes as one of your sides.

8

Wow, this is fantastic. The breading is crunchy & flavorful, the chicken tender, & the sauce is stellar. No cilantro next time. Will DEFINITELY get again.

10

Migas at Trudy's North Star

Category: TexMexTags:

A staple for years after adult skate night right around the corner at Playland Skating Rink. These are just really solid, always good, and have never disappointed.

9

Pepper sauce flavor was great, but this was a little hotter (spicy) than I usually prefer. Pork was cooked well and flavors were great, but I was in pain about half way through.

7

Good, but not great. It just didn't pop enough for me. The flavors were good, but there was nothing that would bring me back. Maybe more spice? Not sure.

7

Just read the description and this is every bit as good as it sounds. Make CERTAIN you get smothered in queso for an extra super treat.

10

Great salsa, do not decline the offer for the starter free chips and salsa. The Tomatillo salsa can be a bit hot for some, but it works well for me.

9

The chocolate mousse is light but still very rich, they must use real cream & whip it. Cream cheese layer needs to be twice as thick & crust is sweet & salty to compliment.

9

Just terrible. The meat was tough and when you bite into it, it all pulls out. The pastrami was stringy, which is an absolute failure with pastrami.

2

Flavor OK, but meat patty was burned on the outside & still pink in the middle. I figure they were cooking a frozen patty. Again, terrible. I won't order sandwiches here again.

2

So average in the case of normal adult food, but having sampled some of my kids baby food, I bet these would be gobbled up quickly.

6

Probably my most favorite dessert in all of Austin right now. I cannot believe that Whole Foods, a grocery store, makes my most favorite dessert. Keep it up WF.

10

The best margarita my wife and I have found in Austin. The tequila is smooth and the cocktail goes down a little too easy.

10

Disappointing, rib-eye was riddled with gristle and fat and because it was battered you could not see it coming. Meat was also spiced which clashed terribly with the cream gravy.

1

Always moist & fresh out of the oven. The butter just soaks into the cornbread. It's hard not to gorge on this before your meal arrives. But save room!

8

I order tenderloin cut instead. I'm not a steak guy, but this is great, I fantasize about it at times. I took a French man there once and he said it was the best meal he ever had.

10

Barbacoa was a little fatty for my taste. Was topped with really bland escabèche and a whole bunch of shredded lettuce (not in the description). Disappointing.

3

Not bad. I think there are better available in town so I would probably not order again. Cream gravy was good, breading crispy, and meat was cooked well.

7

Good but not great. I had to add a lot of salt to get flavors to come out at all. Crust is buttery and good though.

6

Absolutely LOVE the creativity here, but these we so salty that no one at the table liked them. It was like licking a salt lick and chasing it w/ a shot of seawater.

4

A LOT going on here. I love sauces but there are maybe just a bit too many & too much of them. Tuna was seared and perfect. I think this would make a good appetizer.

8

Flavor combs just didn't gel all that well for me. I also didn't really care for the shrimp; they were over-breaded and undercooked. I would not order again.

4

Padana Pizza at Pizza Express

Category: PizzaTags:

Pizza was great, all ingredients fresh. A very good non-fast food style pizza place. Also, restaurant is on a little square so makes for a great dining experience.

8

This is the best I have ever had. The chicken was shredded and expertly spiced. We fought over the every bite and each was better than the last.

10

This is the standard by which I judge all Lebanese food. My perspective has been ruined and all others pale by comparison. Outstanding flavors, perfect texture, delicious.

10

We stumbled upon this shop while bumming around the city. The chocolate soup was great, a bit like thick hot chocolate. Will definitely find our way back someday.

10

Crepe was colored almost like rye bread and tasted a bit odd. Filling was OK, but not as good as expected.

5

Croissant was delicious and the chocolate inside was still very good even for having been baked. I could eat a dozen of these and will certainly seek them out when in the area.

10

Tasted like canned tuna in a quiche. Not even good tuna, just the generic cat food quality tuna you would get for $0.70 a can.

3

Alaska Wild Salmon at Orso

Category: SeafoodTags:

I'm not a huge Salmon fan, BUT this is delicious. The mustard sauce is super good, fish is fresh & tastes clean & not fishy at all. Might even order if I get tired of the Halibut.

9

Favorite dish in AK. Halibut is cooked perfectly, flaky, but never dry. Cashew crust is mellow & sauce is subtle w/ great flavors. Order extra sauce. I love this dish.

10

BEST meal on the spit for the price. You can spend way more if you like, but this Halibut was every bit a fresh and flaky as anywhere else. We seek them out every time.

10

The kind of breakfast that warms you up and sticks with you all day. I saw someone else order so I tried. The bowl is the perfect dish to hold the gravy closer to the biscuits.

8

A solid cinnamon roll. I'm not usually a fan because they can be too bready, but this was a pretty good balance. There was definitely some fighting for the last piece.

9

Beef Chilada was disappointing, but the rest was great. I love Bueno, grew up on it, so there is some nostalgia here. Muchacos are awesome & even beans & rice are good.

8

They use good chocolate, not waxy, the kind that melts in your hands before it hits your mouth. Not a fan of coconut, but I could not help myself. I will certainly seek out again.

10

I would give this higher than a 10 if I could. WOW! The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce was AMAZING! I would get at least 2 orders of this next time.

10

Hommus at Zaytinya

Category: MediterranianTags:

Very good hummus and a great starter to your meal here.

8

Was not sold on this dish before ordering, but I should never doubt Zaytinya. Again, a solid dish with great flavor, expertly cooked lamb, and good sauce.

8

I had this dish twice in three days and each time was better than the last. This is my favorite place in Orlando.

10

Terrible. Fish is cooked in a banana boat/soup tureen dish and is REALLY greasy. Crab topping was fishy, & lemon cream sauce was horrible, tasted like melted margarine. Not worth $

2

Delicious, a bit pricey, but would DEFINITELY get again.

9

Not a bad cheesesteak for a hot dog joint. Steak was seasoned well, onions caramelized, cheese creamy, and bread fresh.

7

Was served cold, next time ask them to nuke for 10sec. Cake was moist and delicious, icing heavenly, drizzled with caramel and topped with whipped cream. Wow, just wow.

10

If you like Oreos then this is it for you. Creamy cheesecake with tons of crushed Oreos. It was very good, but there are other desserts I like better.

8

Great sandwich, lots of wonderful flavors. Bread was moist with perfect consistency. Turkey was thick as though pulled rather than usual deli sliced.

8

Wow, addictive. I would add just a touch more peanut butter but then I'm a PB fanatic. I will get this again and again and again.

10

A little on the sweet side for me, almost a dessert. I like my tomato soup to be savory. It was good and I did finish it all, but I'll try something else next time.

6

Fried perfectly, wrapper was golden brown and crispy while contents inside were hot and gooey. Great dipped in the accompanying plum sauce.

8

Your standard fare here. Orange sauce was good but I thought lacked orange flavor. I would have really liked if that had popped more. Maybe add orange peel too?

7

Tomatoes were flavorful, could have used just a bit more balsamic for my taste. I do not like arugula it turns out, very bitter. Buffalo was very soft and complemented tomatoes.

6

Not my favorite. The night I was in the walnuts were just a bit rancid and that was very distracting. Even if they had been fresh, I still think there are better desserts to try.

5

AMAZING! Filet was expertly prepared and all the flavor combinations were heavenly. Wow wow wow. Mmmm, just thinking about this dish...

10

Have to admit, I already have a favorite in Austin TX that all others pale in comparison to, BUT but, this was damn good. Just a hint of orange and super creamy.

10

Goat cheese was too tart for me. Greens, toast, and dressing were excellent.

5

Have enjoyed this 4 times now - Best I have ever had! Holy Crap - I never miss this when in Augusta

10

Loved it. Lemon butter is great, heavy on capers, which I like. Fish perfectly cooked, and topping was a great – looked a little like marinara at first but taste was excellent.

10

Ordered by accident, what a pleasant surprise. Cake was so moist and the chocolate mouse tastes like my own dear sweet mother's. Raspberry sauce is killer too.

10

Pretzel bun was lost in all the other flavors. If you like mustard you will like this burger. Ham makes it all a little sweet, be warned.

7

I ordered the Tuna Tataki. Tuna tasted fresh and had good texture. Sauces were excellent and I gobbled it all up.

8

My least favorite of the night. Not bad, but a little less exciting as compared to some others tried. W/ that many fishes you are also bound to find some that are "fishy."

6

Best damn roll I have had in a long time. I ended up ordering a second and even coming back the next night. Tuna and strawberry played off each other perfectly.

10

Your standard Miso Soup.

5

If you're getting a fried roll, this is the one you want. Flavors were fresh and light and this roll disappears quickly. Love the sauces.

9

Terrible. Reminded me of the macaroni served at a cafeteria. I think the noodles and sauce all come out of a can at once and then they just heat it up.

2

Pork was fall apart tender and had slight flavor of a ham which was great. Pork can be dry when smoked for a long time but this was moist. Add BBQ sauce and was great.

9

Onion Rings at West Towne Pub

Category: AmericanTags:

Great rings. Served with ranch dressing without even having to ask for it. Now that's what I call service.

8

I found myself wanting MORE peanut butter on this burger. Maybe like a Thai peanut dipping sauce to really make it overboard. Flavors all work well though.

8

Chicken was a little dry & could have used a touch of salt in the blackening seasoning. It needed the sauce but the sauce was way heavy on one spice.

7

Sue Sue Shrimp at Chubby Trout

Category: SeafoodTags:

I think the sauce is made with Miracle Whip and sriracha sauce. I do not like Miracle Whip. Shrimp were good and breading was crunchy.

6

Better than average, but a little salty for my taste. The sausage tasted like home made and was not heavy on fennel which I appreciate.

6

Light, fresh, delicious cream sauce with mushrooms and basil. Very good. I would seek this place out next time I am back in town.

9

Chili at Steak 'n Shake

Category: Fast FoodTags:

I hate to say it, but I think Steak & Shake (a fast food chain) has the BEST Chili. It's rich and flavorful, with good character. Beef falls apart and beans cooked until creamy.

10

Better than the Chinese food for sure, but there was a big chuck of gristle in the roll, flavor overall was good.

7

A plate of KFC chicken, fried to hell, with no seasoning, covered in brown gravy, NO flavor, not even close to Chinese food!

0

Hashwi was REALLY greasy though tasted good, Kibbee Ball was dry and a bit rubbery, Laban was not spiced at all and overall a bit of a disappointment for me.

5

Fantastic! Thick slices of calamari, not the puny rings, fried perfectly, not chewy in the least. Sauces are sweet & savory & you cannot help but dip back & forth.

10

Not typically a fan of duck but this was very good. Duck was slightly sweet & salty & dipped in the mustard sauce was outstanding. Risotto was a little al dente.

9

101 Maguro at Oishii Sushi

Category: SushiTags:

Fresh and with a very clean flavor. I also appreciate that they do not hide wasabi under the fish to surprise you half way through like most other sushi joints.

10

Roll is very large, good for sharing. Night I was in, I thought the oil used to fry the shrimp might have been a bit rancid, but everything else was top notch. I'll try again.

7

Your standard miso here, nothing crazy special, but always a good start to any Japanese meal.

5

GREAT dressing. Iceberg and Red cabbage would not be my choice for a salad, but this dressing steals the show so it doesn’t matter at all.

10

Waiter said this is what has kept them in business for 15yrs. He's right, it's amazing! Lamb was tenders, moist, and spices were excellent. Sides were good too.

10

Texture was a little off putting to me, but I've never had this dish so have nothing to compare to. Flavors were OK but I would not likely order again.

7

Had my hesitations about this, but all herbs worked really well together and the feta was a perfect accompaniment. Nice too, that this dish is complimentary.

9

Mmmmm, outstanding. The bread pudding was warm and thick, smothered in a creamy Whiskey sauce. You could taste the alcohol but it was not distracting.

10

Gumbo just OK, jambalaya not bad but still not anything to write home about, red beans & rice bland, grilled smoked sausage was pretty good actually.

6

Beignets at Café du Monde

Category: BakeryTags:

Get up early & go have coffee & beignets at Café du Monde, best way to start your day in New Orleans. Beignets are hot and fresh and satisfy completely.

10

Chicory is a bit of an acquired taste I think. I enjoy it but many can find it a little harsh. The milk helps tame it down a bit.

8

Calamari was fried to perfection and not chewy at all. Olive salad was surprisingly complimentary. I would definitely get this again!

9

Swordfish was expertly cooked, was rich & flavorful, & just melted in your mouth. Creamy polenta was heavenly. When available, I will get this again.

10

Spring roll was good and dipping sauce tangy, fried oyster was just that…fried, and the shrimp stole the show (served on wilted spinach with Hollandaise and Pancetta).

8

Maybe it was just because I was stuffed or I was expected better, but this didn't knock my socks off. Was just average in my opinion. Skip it next time.

5

Shrimp were very fresh & quite tasty. Was not a huge fan of the barbeque sauce though. Missing a touch of sugar & vinegar to be called a BBQ sauce.

7

Consistency and coloring of split pea soup. Flavor of blue cheese overpowered all others. I rich, briny, blue cheese soup is not what I was expecting.

5

Best thing tried all night! Shrimp perfect and who doesn't love bacon? Grits were out of this world creamy and sauce was sweet and complementary. Wow, get it!

10

Flounder & filling by itself was outstandingly fresh. Butter sauce was a little odd to me & the waitress said they use nutmeg, would have rather had lemon butter instead.

8

I am from TX, & these are the BEST damn fajitas I have ever had. I dream about them every now and then. The Cajun and Mexican seasonings melt together to create the best flavor.

10

Chicken Makhni at Cafe of India

Category: IndianTags:

Hands down the best Indian dish I have ever had. Sweet and salty with great spice flavors.

10

Best Au Jus sauce I have ever had. Roast beef was maybe a 7, and way too much, but Ciabatta was perfectly moist and sopped up au jus well. Onion rings a nice addition.

8

Definitely unique. Too sweet for me. The fruit slices & fig jam overpowered the bacon (if you can believe that). Balance the salt and sugar and this would be better.

6

Fried, was expecting Vietnamese spring roll. Plum sauce too tart, better w/ soy sauce. Oil that roll was fried in tasted a little old.

5

Thai tea has a unique flavor. I don't think I'm a big fan. I was hoping for more of a bubble tea coconut flavor.

6

Ordered with chicken. Very good for a white sauce, I wouldn't usually order but waitress said it was her favorite. Add a touch of soy sauce to pep it up.

8

Wow - this is great! I will seek out every time I am in the area. Chicken is tender and flavorful and humus is creamy and rich. Lots of great flavors!

10

Caesar Salad at Imo's Pizza

Category: SaladTags:

Just terrible, so bad in fact, I think it was the wrong thing all together. Iceberg lettuce, mozzarella, and no croutons. Also, they didn't even have Caesar dressing.

4

Very good, the Provel cheese is creamy and gooey and always hits the spot. Some people complain about the thin crust, but I love it. Missing the secret seasoning on top.

8

Pepperoni Pizza at Imo's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

Always a favorite when in St Louis. I would say that is location was not as good as the one in downtown Kirkwood. Missing the secret seasoning on top.

8

Toasted Ravioli at Imo's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

Always sounds and looks better than it actually is. Ravioli is too bready and the filling tastes almost fishy to me, I think that may be spinach? A little dry as well.

5

Cashew breading was awesome, but the fish was REALLY fishy. I would never get this again. Even with lemon, the fish taste was just too much.

3

Buffalo Bleu Salad at Houlihan's

Category: SaladTags:

Sounds great, lots of delicious stuff in this not-at-all-good-for-you salad. However, it was just too many strong flavors competing. Chicken was soggy as well.

5

Consistently great chicken fingers that are large and moist with a crispy breading. The honey mustard is also pretty darn good.

9

French Onion Soup at Houlihan's

Category: FrenchTags:

I almost always order this. The soup is always rich, even though it's just water based, lots of onions, the crouton is good, and the Provolone is like the icing on the cake.

9

Flavor combination did not work at all for me. Goat cheese clashed with the artichoke and thyme. Sounds killer, but just a disappointment.

4

I don't think I have ever been here without ordering Shrooms! Always crispy & sauce is perfect compliment. Also, breading is seasoned well, sauce is not needed it's that good.

10

S'mores at Houlihan's

Category: DessertTags:

Sugar coated graham crackers were great and perfect for dipping. Smores goo was very chocolatety and rich. Best to share or this would be way too much for just 1.

9

Spinach Salad at Houlihan's

Category: SaladTags:

Added goat cheese. A very good salad. Dressing is great and all ingredients were very fresh. I would definitely order again as a healthy choice.

9

Outstanding! The BEST chicken salad I have ever had. I even ordered seconds as my dessert. I will seek this out every time I am in the area.

10

So very good. Tart and tangy and hard not to get multiple refills.

10

Pepperoni Pizza at Imo's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

Best Pizza I have EVER had. When visiting St. Louis, we hit Imo's at least once sometimes twice. The cheese is awesome and I love that it's thin crust. Wish they had in Austin.

10

Needed a LOT more lime. Was too sweet when it first arrived. Added more and was much better.

7

Rolling day old school cafeteria mac into balls and batter frying does not make it good. Noodles were rubbery and cheese tasted like the generic Velveeta.

3

OK, but too much sesame oil for my liking. Sesame oil has a tendency to overpower other more subtle flavors in my opinion. Would have liked to taste more peanut.

6

Best Gooey Butter Cake anywhere. Schnucks makes one that is not bad, but for the best, head to Lubeley's!

10

Caesar Salad at St Louis Bread

Category: SaladTags:

Lettuce was fresh, croutons crunchy, dressing creamy and tangy. Overall, a satisfying Caesar.

6

Pastry is flaky and buttery like all their Danishes. Gooey Butter filling is rich, creamy, and sugary sweet. Might skip the next time, I like more flavors than just sweet.

7

An OK dish, not terribly exciting. Chicken cooked well and rice is good, but missing some green onions, crisp veggies, a tangier sauce perhaps.

7

Outstanding. Great flavor & super crispy. I don't know how they get them so crisp without being drenched in oil.

10

Fried Wonton at Steak & Rice

Category: ChineseTags:

Outstanding. Great flavorful filling and wrapper super crispy. Not oily at all.

10

Pineapple Beef at Steak & Rice

Category: ChineseTags:

Sauce was lacking pizzazz & a bit watery, would have preferred it thicker w/ more kick. Meat and veggies fine, but not something I would order again.

6

Wonton Soup at Steak & Rice

Category: SoupTags:

Just wontons simmered in a beef broth with fresh green onions. Better than average I would say. Broth had a great flavor and the wontons were not overcooked.

8

Chicken Fried Rice at China Yu

Category: ChineseTags:

Mediocre but sadly one of the best things we got that night. Rice was cooked and seasoned well and cuts of chicken were not gristly and fatty like other joints.

6

Crab Rangoon at China Yu

Category: ChineseTags:

Your standard crab Rangoon here. They are never exceptional anywhere, but always a good side item.

7

Beef was good, breading was good, but the sauce was not great. It might have just been the Chinese five spice, which was odd in this dish, but I would not order again.

5

Lemon Chicken at China Yu

Category: ChineseTags:

Had a very strange chemical taste to it. I don't think it was a chemical or anything bad, but it just didn't sit well on any of the non-Chinese pallets. Ended up tossing.

3

Flavors do work well in this one. I think I would rather have pourable peanut butter in the ice cream. The Reece's get really hard and waxy when this cold.

7

This was a little overboard I think. Watch me order it again though. The caramel is rich and sweet and the custard is rich and creamy. Just rich rich rich, but so good.

9

Not a fan of chocolate syrup, but all in all a good malt. Getting a true shake without concrete also means less fat which may or may not be good in my mind.

7

Order a concrete for extra creamy delight. So very sweet and rich. Almost too much as a medium, order a small next time.

9

If an ingredient cannot been seen or tasted, then why have it up there on the menu? Hot fudge? A disappointment in my mind but not a terrible dessert.

5

Peaches are really mild so the flavors don't really pop like you would want. Sounds great, but is just too mild in flavor for my taste.

5

A good shake. Strawberries are either frozen or from preserves and either way work very well.

8

Very tasty little button mushrooms in a crispy batter with perfect dipping sauce.

8

Not a fan. To me, this tasted like fried American cheese. I was expecting the flavor and consistency of mozzarella.

4

Not bad, but not great either. I think these should have been served with both ranch and a sweet sauce like a chipotle raspberry sauce. Just didn't do it for me.

6

Fortel's does pizza. Do not order pasta here. Noodles were overcooked and the whole thing had just been nuked in a plastic bowl. I would expect from a cafeteria.

4

My favorite appetizer by far. There was fighting at the table for the last bites. The dipping sauce is perfectly complementary.

10

Great when hot and fresh out of the fryer. Ordering "to go" is not a great idea as these get rubbery. Filling has a good meaty flavor compared to others in the area.

9

Too sweet for me. I wanted a much more savory soup. Was very rich, but just not what I was hoping for.

5

My mouth is watering just writing this review. I LOVE lemon and this cupcake does not disappoint. Cake was moist and lemon tart and tangy. So good!

10

WOW! Great brisket, was not expecting that at all. Just falls apart. I ended up eating a lot just by itself because the sandwich is just loaded. Sauce is great too.

10

Tons of bacon, metric tons to be exact. But even that was not enough to save this sandwich from the cold dry crumby bread. Sounded great, but just a let down.

3

Does not disappoint the peanut butter lover. Even a little overwhelming and I didn't even eat the whole thing. That's the way I like it!

8

Aside from the dressing tasting like spray paint smells, a good salad. All ingredients fresh. Next time I will order with a different dressing.

7

Chili at Steak 'N Shake

Category: SoupTags:

Still the best damn chili. Great flavor and always satisfies. I would love to have this recipe but my waist line would suffer I'm sure.

10

Mediocre chicken, sauce and onions not bad but not better than just the plain old pepperoni.

6

Pepperoni Pizza at Imo's Pizza

Category: PizzaTags:

The BEST pepperoni pizza anywhere. Someday I hope to open an Imo's chain in Austin TX so I can gorge myself any time.

10

Lots of crispy salty bacon work perfectly with the sweet pineapple. People may say they don't like but it always goes fast at any get-together.

9

A must at any meal. Get a large order and share at the table. There will be no leftovers that is for sure.

8

Sad to admit, but still my favorite chili anywhere. I order every single time I am at S&S. I just can't get enough.

10

A hearty breakfast. Bacon was not as thick cut as advertised but still tasty. Hash browns were slightly overcooked which I like.

7

Really just outstanding. I don't typically like pies with pie crust on top, but this is so good. Berries are fresh and with a little ice cream, this is heavenly.

10

Superb. Carrot cake is moist and has a great flavor. The cream cheese icing is fantastic and plentiful. I would order a dozen the next time.

10

Good cake and the icing is so good. The coconut portion of this cupcake is lost though because the little bit up top is just not enough. The cake should be coconut too.

7

Wow, if you like chocolate, you won't go wrong with this. Cake was moist and had a good chocolate flavor, and the icing is just crazy good…lots of icing…mmmm

9

Bread is fresh baked, brushed with butter, & topped w/ minced garlic and Parmesan cheese. Order is enough for several people, but expect them to go quickly.

10

They must make with real sugar because taste is clean and fresh with an almost creamy aftertaste.

10

Beef was tender & melted in my mouth. Sauce was very tart & tangy. It was almost too much, but made it a great dish to share because I could not imagine eating a whole plate.

8

This was so good we ordered another AFTER our meal as dessert. There was actual bread stick jockeying at the table to get the first, middle, & last bites.

10

Was a little apprehensive but beef was seasoned well and cabbage was really quite good. Not exciting enough for me but still a good traditional dish.

8

HUGE battered oily fried monstrosities. Soooo good. So bad for you I’m sure, but good for sharing and downright sinful.

7

The batter is awesome, dripping with fatty oil, but awesome nonetheless. Tartar sauce was dill pickle based so of course I loved it.

9

Order these for the table. They will get eaten by all I can guarantee. I’m not a fan of potatoes but these are heavenly: creamy, rich, buttery, cheesy, oh so good.

10

I think that Chervil is my new favorite spice. The butter sauce makes the dish. It’s a very subtle flavor, but a little salt brings out the flavor. Fish was perfect.

10

My favorite traditional dish at this joint. Sausage is just how I remember it in the UK and the mashed potatoes are creamy and buttery.

10

Great dish to share because the portion is HUGE, served in a bucket in fact. A little on the tame side as far as spices, but that’s the way this dish is, Irish comfort food.

7

Wow, great CFS. Meat was tender enough to cut with a fork and the gravy was homemade and delicious.

9

I love corned beef hash & this did not disappoint in the least. Ample portion, even for a side. Big meaty chunks instead of paste like out of a can.

9

This was the hit of the table. Only a couple ordered but ended up sharing with everyone. Toast was grilled perfectly & the cream cheese and fruit rich & delicious.

10

Best to start every meal here w/ their outstanding guacamole.

10

Every time I'm in Vegas for any reason, I always pay a visit & get these AMAZING tacos. I love them. The pickled onions are divine & the tortillas are made in house. So Good.

10

Outstanding! Everything about this was excellent. Ham & pineapple worked well together, rye was fresh, Swiss perfectly melted, & mustard sauce was killer.

10

Croissant was amazing! Flaky buttery melt in your mouth. Filling could have used a bit more spice, zip, pop, zest, something. Salt helped a little.

8

Great biscuit, flaky, buttery, topped w/ a heavenly mix of goodness all smothered in creamy ambrosia. I will seek this out every time I'm back in Portland.

10

Always looking for good Kibbeh. Not the best I’ve ever had but good flavor and texture. Was expecting more from the laban, satisfying nonetheless.

8

Fish was good, portion was very small in my opinion. Tartar sauce was dill pickle based & was great. Fries were cooked well & broccoli salad was outstanding.

8

I'm from TX and these are the BEST carnitas I have ever had anywhere. The pork is fall apart good with great spices. When in town visiting family, I never miss a meal here.

10

Rather disappointing. I think the cheese was just some sort of processed cheese, maybe a cheaper version on Velveeta.

4

Nothing special. They forgot the bacon and almonds & even with them added, was still not worth the $$. Just skip the roughage and fill up on steak.

5

Trout was cooked well, but a bit fishy in flavor. Almonds and crab meat were good, but needed lots of lemon to offset fishy taste. Stick with steak here.

6

I had them butterfly & cook to done. Fillet was tender & melted in my mouth. I also love the cigar bar aspect of this joint. I will always find a way to stop when in the area.

9

Asparagus were as fat as your fingers, but that meant they were tough at the base. Sauce was terrible. Egg yolk, butter, and lemon – THAT makes a divine Hollandaise.

5

BEST BBQ sauce anywhere. Had Rudy's cater our wedding but had Salt Lick sauce. They also now sell in the grocery store. I keep a bottle in the cabinet at all times.

10

Brisket is hit or miss, sometimes great, sometimes sub par. I really think it matters when you go and who has been doing the cooking.

7

I have not found any better Turkey in TX. The meat just falls apart and the flavors extend all the way through the meat. Mop up some sauce and this is heaven.

10

A little dry, really could have used some cheese or rice or beans. Descent flavor and meat was cooked well, but will likely pass on this burrito next time.

5

Holy Cow! Ordered the 1/2 sandwich & it was HUGE! Bread is really good & the meat & cheese just outstanding. This fills you up & tastes great. Would get again & again.

9

Gooey and delicious, great BBQ sauce and the beef is very very tender.

8

Made with Hersey's syrup, but pretty good.

7

There was a bit of gristle in my sandwich. Otherwise good. Order next time with mayo and pickles.

7

Enchilada verde was great, taco was dry with no sauce and queso was just dumped over a dry tortilla. Soup was OK, and rice was descent.

7

Too rich for me. Great flavor but too sweet and too salty all at the same time. I was able to eat only a little.

7

BEST Pra Ram I have ever had. I love this dish but so many Thai joints just slap a generic peanut sauce on and call it good. This sauce was great. Will get again!

10

Waitress said if I was here only once, I should get this dish. I think she might have been right, very good and a lot of food. Cream sauce was like crack.

9

Great queso. Was here with some co-workers from Iowa that had never had queso. Fun to watch them enjoy.

9

Rich, very good, but not knock-your-socks off like my mind was reading the description. Would still get as a side.

7

Wow, huge chunks of fantastic Ahi Tuna. Next time I will get this is for my meal. Great clean flavors and very fresh fish. Outstanding!

10

Very good. Like baked potato latkes. I was worried about lemon dill sauce working with cheddar and bacon, but hey, it all played nice.

9

Holy Cow! These are so warm and fresh and served with real butter, amazing. I know I shouldn't waste space on bread, but this is no ordinary dinner roll.

10

Great avocado salsa, & lemon butter. Shrimp were HUGE, only four on plate but more than enough. Sadly, these were a little on the fishy side.

7

Fish was cooked well & pistachio crust was a nice change from more traditional crusts. All flavors worked well.

8

Just like it sounds. Don't waste the space when there is unlimited filet. Descent if you like chicken but all you taste is bacon.

6

Ate 4 myself. Just melts in your mouth.

10

I should have not messed with this. The Filet was already perfection. Adding of bacon only served to distract, overpowered other more subtle flavors.

6

Seasoned well and very good. A little more fat if you like it in this cut of beef.

8

Mmmm, again, melt in your mouth good. Seared on the outside and rare in the middle.

9

There is no better anywhere. We order this the second we sit down because they run out. We often drive to Fredericksburg from Austin just to get a slice of cake it's that good.

10

Great Schnitzel! I have lots of family in Germany and this restaurant really gets very close to their cooking style. We always stop in Fredericksburg for this.

8

Potato Salad at Der Lindenbaum

Category: GermanTags:

Not a huge fan of potato salad, but this is my exception. We always have to make sure we order a second side of this or there is fighting!

9

Sauerbraten at Der Lindenbaum

Category: GermanTags:

This is not available all the time, but when it is, wowzers! We always get this if available, with Schnitzels coming in second.

9

Fairly good salad but really only because the dressing was tasty.

7

Fish was lacking pizzazz. I expected that it would be rich and buttery. I asked for lemon butter sauce, but that was TERRIBLE. I just added lots of salt to help flavors pop. $$

6

You think you will be getting a lobster or crab bisque, but it was just the little salad shrimp in an unremarkable soup.

5

Best chocolate malt I have EVER had. I would seek this place out just to get again.

10

Flavor of the mint ice cream was very subtle and the chocolate is terribly waxy. It does not melt in your mouth while eating. Just bad.

3

2nd best Lobster Bisque I have ever had. They were not lying about the chunks of Lobster either. They were huge and copious. This is great Bisque, the way it should be made.

9

Served with a savory lemon butter sauce that just completes the whole flavor experience. Pricey but awesome. If there was more I would order for dinner.

10

The flavors were very mellow but great & buttery/rich. The fish was cooked well and the Parmesan risotto was perfect. I asked for extra sauce & slathered on everything.

9

To bring plain old banana pudding to the Taste of Austin was really dumb I thought, but then I tasted it & wow was it good. Vanilla pudding w/ chucks of banana & Nilla Wafers, yum!

10

Creamy with chunks of fresh potato, slow simmered, and a flavor that was subtle but delicate. I will probably make this a staple when visiting the Cotton Patch from now on.

9

A great shake for being at the airport. Real strawberries & rich ice cream make this very good.

8

Much better than I expected for a take & bake shop. Pizza was loaded with fresh ingredients, drizzled with olive oil, & made you feel like having a 2nd slice wasn't so bad.

7

Not in the least like your average mac-n-cheese; amazing flavors that blend perfectly on the palate. I will be making a trip up to Vino soon to get more I am certain.

10

Very watery & because of this it is hard to really taste the flavors. Wish they would thicken up a bit, but they are probably married to the recipe.

4

Best beans in TX in my opinion. They are slow cooked so that some break down and make the juice thicker. The pork fat and jalapenos are a nice touch.

9

Just add vanilla ice cream and this cobbler is amazing. I love the tart berries and the sweet creamy ice cream flavor combo.

9

I give this an 8 because at times it's a 10 and at others it's a 6. When great the meat falls apart and is expertly spiced.

8

Great chicken consistently. Makes great chicken sandwiches the day after.

9

Wow – I WILL seek this out every time I am near. All the best parts of a pecan pie.

10

Best potato salad in TX as far as I'm concerned. They make with dill pickles not stupid sweet ones.

10

Good flavor and texture but nothing exceptional about it. Good and we always order some, but I would not seek it out specifically.

7

Pillowy soft and moist. This is just a must when buying turkey sausage. Makes the best sandwiches. Also, just great when hot with fresh butter.

9

Great turkey sausage. I don't anyone else that makes turkey sausage so it's hard to compare, but for years we have always stopped and picked up an order to go.

9

Probably the best CFS I have ever had. The breading was thick, crunchy, seasoned well but not oily in the least. Gravy was also particularly good. Worth the drive from Austin.

10

This sounds GREAT, but was actually very average. And for the $$, I was expecting better. Salt helped bring out flavors, but was unremarkable overall.

5

Really good & I understand they make on site daily. They even use some of the breadcrumbs in their schnitzel breading. Cheese spread was tasty but needed more!

8

Wow, great flavor combination. Pork was tender & cooked well, breading was perfectly seasoned, & sauce was tangy & complemented nicely.

9

Mozart Cake at European Bistro

Category: DessertTags:

Cake was a little dry and flavors were muted. Also, Germans, in general, use a lot less sugar in their cakes. I think we should have ordered the German Chocolate Cake instead.

5

Dough was ok, filling was a bit flavorless. I expected some spices but didn't detect much. Dill sauce was also flavorless. Adding salt helped a LOT, but won't order again.

6

Same as Beef, Dough was ok, filling a bit flavorless. Expected some spices but didn't detect much. Dill sauce was also flavorless. Adding salt helped a LOT, but won't order again.

6

Just a little sweet, with a twang from the vinegar, and a wonderful bacon flavor. I would order again in a heartbeat.

9

Seasoning was perfect, no salt needed. Spätzle was a little on the well done side but overall good. Could use a sauce. Won't ever be as good as Elfride's though.

7

Veal is so moist & just melts in your mouth. Breading is perfect, no salt needed, seasoning just right. Best I have had outside of Germany.

10

So much better than what I had to eat in grade school. Meat ball was actually very good. The pasta and sauce was pretty bland though, probably because they can't use salt?

7

Probably the best dish for people just trying Ethiopian. Beef is fall apart tender, sauce is scrumptious, and the spices used are mild & bring it all together.

10

Ok, but was lacking spice especially when compared to dishes around it. I do not think I would order again, but glad I tried.

5

Not a huge fan of collard greens to start with. These were ok, a little bitter, but overall I thought were just not satisfying. I would not order again.

4

Lamb was tender & flavorful. With a touch of salt to enhance the spices, was a very satisfying dish.

9

Tasted a lot like beef stew, but much more kick. Great appetizer and easy to share, just be careful with the heat level for those who cannot stomach.

8

Many times, cooked spinach is a little bitter. These were not in the least bitter and there was ample spinach, great mild flavor, great HOT dipping sauce too.

9

Get this every time! Lentils were cooked to perfection, spiced well, & were just plain delicious. If I had an order of this & the Alicha Siga Wot, I'd be happy every time.

10

The bourbon cream sauce is fantastic! Some people don't like soggy cake desserts, but this is a must if visiting LL.

9

This ice cream makes the best milkshakes! I also buy by the quart & keep in the freezer at home. This is the BEST ice cream in Austin.

10

Good doughnut to apple ratio, not too sweet, good cinnamon level. I tried cold but I bet I would mark higher if I had it warmed up or fresh.

7

Chocolate icing was REALLY sugary. I think I prefer less sugar and more chocolate. Make sure you have milk standing by to help wash this bad boy down.

6

Had this straight out of the fryer and freshly iced. Good donut, good icing, but like most donuts, when they're fresh they're all good.

8

Fries are always perfectly cooked, crispy & salted well. Cheese sauce is just that, a sauce, probably from a can, but honestly, it's good and I always finish the plate.

6

Chili at Steak 'n Shake

Category: Fast FoodTags:

I hate to say it, but I think Steak & Shake (a fast food chain) has the BEST Chili. It's rich and flavorful, with good character. Beef falls apart and beans cooked until creamy.

10

Two cheeses, Thousand Island dressing, toasted sourdough – best fast food hamburger anywhere, but TONS of buttery fat. Definitely something to enjoy in moderation or share.

9

Chicken Tikka Masala at Teji's

Category: IndianTags:

Best CTM I've had in or around Austin. The chicken was a tad dry, BUT the sauce was just perfect. Enough food for two, but I stuffed my face until it was all gone.

9

Garlic Nan at Teji's

Category: IndianTags:

Not enough garlic for me. However, the nan was pillowy soft & had a really great texture and smooth mellow flavor.

7

Gulab Jamun at Teji's

Category: DessertTags:

Balls of milk curd fried and soaked in syrup, pretty standard as compared to other restaurants. I do not care for this Indian dessert so keep that in mind.

5

Lassi was smooth & rich, with a sweet mango flavor. Will definitely order again.

9

Crisp lettuce, tangy salad dressing, salty Feta cheese and this salad is great and just the perfect way to start any meal at Zorba's.

8

Great! I also love the rice and hummus included. Make sure you get extra tzatziki sauce for dipping.

9

Flaming batter fried feta: breading is outstanding & the cheese gets all warm and melty from the fire. Squeeze on the lemon juice and get some garlic bits for a special treat!

10

Nothing terribly special about this dish, but I will say that Armenta's food is not greasy in the slightest. Most other Mexican food places are. Carne sauce is tasty.

7

I kid you not, one of the best Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches I have ever had. I had one in Philadelphia and this was better than that. Everything gooey with cheese, mmmm.

9

Lots of different flavors on this plate, but none that I was in love with. Lobster was ok, but herb butter not great, corn pudding good, fish fillet soggy.

5

Really very good. Fresh, obviously, & the lime & orange juices really make this tangy & delicious. I had them hold the cilantro (not a fan).

9

Fattosh Salad at Jerusalem Grill

Category: GreekTags:

Was pretty good on the whole, but nothing extraordinary about this salad. It is HUGE though so you can easily share if you like.

7

Grape Leaves at Jerusalem Grill

Category: GreekTags:

These were hands down best I've ever had. I would rate 10, but I think I just realized I don't really like this dish as a whole that much. Mellow flavors and great texture.

8

Creamy with a great balance of flavors. I would go back just for the Hummus!

8

Kibbeh at Jerusalem Grill

Category: GreekTags:

These were ok, I've had MUCH better which is what skews my opinion. I thought they were a little dry, and the Laban was basically plain yogurt.

7

Holy crap this was a great sandwich. The roll was split in half, butter, and grilled to a golden perfection. Bacon was crispy. Just the best BLT anywhere.

10

Oh my gosh, this is an exquisite roll! Best I have ever had actually. They came out hot and pillowy moist, just perfect. They served them with REAL butter. WOW, wow.

10

My absolute favorite right now. Sometimes I switch my fav around, but this one has been in the #1 spot for a couple of years. I like the tartness of the apricot.

10

Tart and tangy. If you like apricot preserves, this is the Kolache for you. I really like the apricot and cream cheese just a little better, but for plain fruit, this is tops.

9

Basic, simple, but very good. Their bread dough is really good so it's hard to go wrong with anything you get here. Make sure you get it heated up.

8

Have never been a fan of their savory Kolaches. I don't really care for the sausage as it seems to always give me indigestion. Hard to stray from the sweet Kolaches.

5

1 up the plain strawberry by adding cream cheese. These are great, but maybe that's just because I love cream cheese. When hot, these are killer.

10

As far as just plain fruit goes, for me, it's a toss up between this and the apricot. I usually just get both. We always get them heated up and eat ASAP.

9

Overall very good. A little on the bland side but that is really just because Woon Sen as a whole tends to be. I should have been more adventurous.

8

I was expecting better, given the proximity to great fresh seafood. I think I should have ordered something grilled; the fried platter just tastes like every other fried platter.

5

Great caramel/almond flavor. When I visit the NW, I always make a stop here and buy a dozen, freeze them, & bring 'em back to TX to be rationed carefully.

10
